Why Study Philosophy At School

21 November 2022

Why study Philosophy at school?

Philosophy teaches students to think logically and rationally.  It helps one to develop a sound argument.

Students access a tsunami of information online, sometimes truthful and factual, but other times downright misleading. Students need skills to analyse and discern facts from fiction, right from wrong, truth from lies.

Many of life’s major questions are philosophical. Does God exist? Is there objective truth? What is moral? Is there more beyond the material world?

Hartford students will become familiar with how great minds of the past – like Aristotle, Descarte, and Lewis – have wrestled with these big ideas and their work has stood the test of time.

Stay tuned next week for a special announcement regarding our Philosophy program!
